If Penny hadn't said something he would have let their families talk him into marrying her. Penny gave a bitter laugh and he couldn't quite meet her eyes as he whispered an apology for the punishing kiss he’d given her.

"You love my brother. The family will get over it when the heirs don't toe the line. Live your lives for yourselves. Be happy." When he met her eyes he found them full of encouragement and love and Benson knew he truly was gifted with a friend like Penny.

He stepped out the library doors and headed for his future.

He’d done the unforgivable this time. The gorgeous man sitting before him looked so sad and it was all because of his own thoughtless actions. Beechem’s apology had no impact whatsoever and he was running out of promises to make. Seeing such a strong man looking so devastated made him feel like an utter asshat. There was really no excuse for Beechem’s total disregard for his lover’s feelings. He had quickly pushed aside the guilt and misgivings and acted selfishly knowing full well how Jake would feel if he ever found out. Jake was often a kind and forgiving man but he had certain tenets he could not abide being disregarded. At the time, Beechem truly believed he had no other choice. He had known there would be repercussions but had immediately convinced himself that he could gain Jake’s forgiveness if he ever found out.

At Jake’s plaintive moans, he cringed and thanked goodness his employer believed in a great benefits package, which thankfully included same sex couples. Because the shit had hit and it looked like Beechem would be filling out a crap load of Employee Assistance Program forms for counselling sessions.

“I can’t believe you used my toothbrush!”

Heart breaking, Adam gazed across the chasm at his sister. Eve looked so dejected and he felt entirely helpless. Even though distance separated them he could almost feel her pain and loneliness. Her despair engulfed her and enveloped Adam. Their mother had always resented the deep connection the siblings shared. In a malicious outburst she had convinced their father to separate them. Eve spent her time among the austere land of the desert protecting their father’s worshippers. Adam spent his time among the lush blooming forest protecting their mother’s followers and fearing for his sister’s sanity with each passing moment.

Craig had surreptitiously taken the photo when Dunn’s eyes were closed. He knew Dunn loved him he had no doubt of his strong feelings. Dunn’s family had a legacy of military service and he followed the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. Craig was fine with it but sometimes wished he could indulge in some public displays to show his affection. There was nothing wrong with their private displays! It was the simple acts he wanted to share most; the hand-holding, the quick hug or kiss. He wasn’t looking to grope in public. More than anything he wanted to squeeze the hand of the man he loved as he was recovering. If he had been conscious Craig would ask but this was a no win situation. If he went against Dunn’s wishes the other man might never forgive him but if he couldn’t claim more than friendship here at the hospital Craig was going to fall apart.
Dunn’s mother entered the room. Her sad eyes seemed to take in every minute detail. He got up relinquishing his chair to her and filled her in on the latest news from the nurse’s station.
She touched Craig’s shoulder, “Go on then, kiss him.”

Where should Adam start today?
Lisa’s skin was the perfect medium to showcase his latest design. His apprentice was always looking for new ink. She was also keen to learn the skills of their trade, thus the video camera. She turned her head sideways, “Maybe I’ll make a copy for Phil – amazing how horny he gets watching me get inked. Want one for Martin?” Adam didn’t want to hurt her feelings by telling her Marty would be far from turned on. He was supportive but his fear of needles was so pronounced Adam’s husband couldn’t step foot in the shop.

Lyman drove past the billboard every day and unlike the other commuters he enjoyed being forced to a standstill. He spent the minutes fantasizing his fingers were running the ice cube along the bronze skin of the gorgeous man sprawled larger than life for Lyman’s pleasure. He pictured himself tracing the well-defined muscles with first the quickly melting cube, followed by his tongue to lap the moisture.

A honk shook him from his reverie. Lyman was obsessed with the model for a goddamn air conditioning company. It was embarrassing! But the hard on he couldn’t control was even more so.

“Hey man, got a smoke?” David frowned and bent back to his book. But the boy didn’t take the hint and kept circling the bench. “I just want one.” David shot him a glare before trying to get back into his book. The teen kept circling the bench and David lost his concentration. “Look even if I had a cigarette you’re too young to smoke. Now can you please leave me to my book and this nice weather?”

“Dude, I’m 16 and I’ve been smoking since I was 13.” He circled a few more times and David rose from the bench.

This kid was pissing him off. All he’d wanted to do was relax and enjoy the warm weather during his lunch break and read the book he’d been waiting months for.

“Are you gay? How old were you when you knew you liked guys?” He was about to rip into the boy when the slightly slumped shoulders and sad eyes broke through his anger.

“I guess I was younger than you. I work for the crisis center if you’d like to follow me there.” David handed him his business card and the book about a young man’s identity struggle.

Beck didn't know what made him dig out the old photo. It had been five years since the summer spent at the cabin but for some reason he couldn't stop thinking about it. He regretted so many things from his past. The biggest was the way he had left things with Wynn. He had been a complete ass and his ex deserved better. It wasn't as if Wynn had surprised him when he’d asked Beck to marry him. Just because Beck couldn't come clean with his family it wasn't fair he had accused Wynn of trying to force his hand.
